Hello folks,
My name is Dennis White.
1938
 I was born in Aldershot, just in time to see the kick-off of the Second World War.
1943     
Started Primary/Junior School (The National Schools).
1948     
Started at St. Michael's Secondary Modern School in Aldershot.
1953     
Left School and started working as an Engine Cleaner on British Railways.  Three months later, I started my apprenticeship as a Compositor in a very small local firm.
1958     
Finished my apprenticeship and was called up for National Service.
Signed on in the Royal Air Force, in Air Defence.
1961     
Demobbed from R.A.F. and moved to Hertford were I was a compositor in a firm that  specialized in foreign language work.
1967     
Met my wife Margaret and Married in the summer.
1968     
Went to study at the Birmingham Bible Institute.
1969     
Helped in the press at the Worldwide Evangelization Crusade.
1970     
Applied for membership of Wycliffe Bible Translators and Summer Institute of Linguistics.
Son Matthew was born.
1972     
Went to Ghana in order to setup a press with the Institute of Linguistics.  
Son Timothy was born.
Spent three months in Nigeria on a course.
1973     
Daughter Ruth was born 10 weeks premature.
Struck down with hepatitis.
1975     
Returned to the UK.
Started working in an Adult Training Centre for a few months.
Then Started working in London.
1978     
Started a part-time press with gifts received from friends, including a small printing press.
At the same time, I was commuting to London to make Overhead Projection Transparencies.
1980     
Left my work in London to concentrate on the printing.
Moved the whole setup to Wales where I was printing for Churches and Missionary Societies.
Members of the Ghana Branch of the Institute of Linguistics were amongst the first customers, whose press had closed down through lack of expertise.
1990     
The press closes through ill health. I found that I couldn't even lift the paper to put on the presses, and I couldn't find the right sort of people to employ.
Eventually I found that I couldn't walk far without ending up in a heap on the ground.
2000     
Started transcribing and checking transcriptions of books to be produced into Braille and Giant Print.
2001     
Became interested in Genealogy.
Started to transcribe Parish Records and build Timelines of surnames found in my family tree.
2003     2003     
Officially Retired.
And so life goes on.
